Case Study: Miss Aafiya was watching over twelve 4-year olds. From 12:00-12:45 they were playing on the playground. At 12:40 she gave the children a warning that there was 5 minutes left of play time. Then at 12:45 the children stopped playing and began cleaning up in the bathroom. At approximately 1:00 Miss Aafiya had the children lay down for their nap. Unfortunately, the children did not want to take a nap and began throwing a tantrum. Regardless and without giving up, Miss Aafiya insisted the children needs to take a nap or they wouldn’t get anymore play time that afternoon. That still didn’t work. What could Miss Aafiya have done differently to improve the transition? Why do you think the children couldn’t/wouldn’t take a nap?
