Case Study: Tyler, Justin and Molly were running around outside. Tyler was pretending to be Superman. Molly was Lois Lane. Justin was Batman. Tyler and Justin even went as far as using an extra t-shirt as a cape. They were all running around the playground shooting and killing the imaginary bad guys. Molly was having a blast for a while running around with them, but soon started to get bored because she wasn’t allowed to shoot at the bad guys because she wasn’t a superhero. Molly then declared she didn’t want to be Lois Lane anymore and wanted to be involved in the fighting. Justin suggested Molly to be a villain so they could fight against her, but Molly didn’t want to be the lone villain. Tyler suggested Molly to be the ‘designated driver’ for the Batmobile and report where all the bad guys were, but Molly didn’t like that idea either, so their play stalled. What did the 3 kids do well together? What were some of the benefits of their play? What can you do to encourage the 3 of them to play together?
